2022 Magnum
HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE MAGNUMS: 98-POINT 2022 CARDINALE
We are thrilled to begin the new year with an exciting offer. When we bottled the 2022 Cardinale Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, we reserved a small portion to go into magnum bottles. Today, we are releasing a limited number of those to our collectors.
Jim Gordon and Jonathan Cristaldi each awarded this wine 98 points for its balance of approachability and ageability. Winemaker Christopher Carpenter recognized that balance in the vintage as well, writing, "The 2022 vintage is very reflective of a softer vintage, but one that has deep concentration and great acid that will allow it to age wonderfully."
This offer closes on January 17, 2026, or sooner if allocations sell out.
"The 2022 Cardinale delivers leading with boysenberry, dark cherry, Asian spice, and a little clove. There is a lot of energy in this wine. Tannins are supportive and sleek, helping carry the complexity of the blending. Spring Mountain fruit was excellent in 2022, so I chose our Yverdon Vineyard for the largest portion of the blend at 25%. The terroir at 2,100 feet gives us fine tannins, red fruit, and delicate floral notes. The next 22% came from Wurtele Vineyard at a lower elevation on Spring Mountain, bringing in darker fruit notes. Next, Rhyolite Ridge on Diamond Mountain contributed a lush midpalate sweetness. Ultimately, the wine came from 12 vineyards spanning eight distinct Napa appellations, together expressing the unique character of 2022."
